Chrissi Cowhey is a creative director, graphic designer and educator whose work draws on roots in fine art and literature while reflecting high levels of concept and craft. Spanning identity, print, digital, and environmental, her portfolio includes work for clients that range from Fortune 500 corporations to cultural institutions. She has developed a particular focus on branding and publication commissions for museums including the Art Institute of Chicago, Pulitzer Arts Foundation, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, and the RISD Museum. Before starting her own design practice, she worked at design firms Studio Blue, Abrams Books, VSA Partners, Two Twelve Associates, among others. She also taught as an Assistant Professor of Communication Design for six years at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.
Chrissi’s work has earned awards from the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), Design Observer, Graphis, and the Society of Typographic Artists, and has been included in the Chicago Cultural Center's CHGO DSGN exhibition. She holds an MFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BA in English and Studio Art from Middlebury College.
